Termite Control Services.

Termite Barriers.

Liquid termite treatments by Thompson's Disinfecting and Exterminating Services can be placed on a variety of surfaces around the home. Many are injected directly into the soil to stop burrowing termites, but others can be sprayed by Thompson's Disinfecting and Exterminating Services on hard surfaces like brick or cement. These liquids release fumes that are toxic to termites, creating an invisible shield around the house. Liquid barriers often need to be replenished frequently, but they provide the added benefit of stopping flying termites as well as burrowing ones. Thompson's Disinfecting and Exterminating Services Termite barrier treatments are one useful option to prevent pesky termites from gaining access to your home. For many years, the traditional method of controlling subterranean termites was to apply a liquid pesticide, known as a termiticide, to the soil. This chemical treatment relied on the application of a chemical barrier around and beneath the structure designed to block all possible routes of termite entry. Any termites attempting to penetrate through the treated soil were either killed or repelled by Thompson's Disinfecting and Exterminating Services

Termite Baiting.
termite-baiting-system

Termite bait is a granulated poison that termites carry back to their nest to kill the hive. It can be placed at various locations around the home, killing termites before they gain access.

In general, termite bait traps are safe for use around kids and pets, but it is a good idea to nonetheless exercise caution when placing them.

Termite baiting systems are actually termite monitoring and baiting systems. Plastic bait stations containing wood attractive to termites are placed in the ground by Thompson's Disinfecting and Exterminating Services around the property. The principle of a termite monitoring and baiting system is that termites are intercepted at the monitoring stations before getting to your house.

The termite activity in these monitoring stations is picked up by the pest professional during one of their regular system inspections and a bait is then added to the station to control the termites.

Soil Treatment.

Thompson's Disinfecting and Exterminating Services soil treatments are liquids or crystals that are worked into the soil to prevent termites from burrowing into a yard. They are the most long-lasting of all termite barriers, but they often require professional assistance to place correctly. Soil treatments can be placed in the dirt, or under paved areas. However, the pavement must be drilled or cut to allow access to the dirt underneath. This can be a time-consuming process, but it provides some of the most reliable termite prevention available.

Thompson's Disinfecting and Exterminating Services Pre Construction Soil Treatment implies laying down a chemical barrier to prevent termites from getting back and forth between wood and soil. Termites need wood for food and soil for moisture, so they constantly travel back and forth between wood and soil. Where this situation does not exist, termites build the “shelter tubes” (Mud tubes) to span foundation walls and other parts of the building that separate wood from the soil. Besides building the tubes in and over foundation walls, termites may also build them inside the walls if constructed of concrete blocks or other porous material. In the case of slab buildings, termites enter through expansion joints, cracks, opening for utility and service connections. Once the backfilling is completed and prior to lay the leveling screed of ground floor slab, Roding will be done along the edge of beams and on entire slab area at one meter center. Then the termiticide will be injected by means of pressure injection treatment. In addition to the above treatment blanket spraying will be carried out on soil surface covered by the leveling screed of ground slab.

Anti termite treatment will not be done under the base slab of sump, lifts and etc. which are in below the water table.

Termite Reticulation System.

A Termite Reticulation System is a hose that we bury into the trench while installing a termite chemical barrier (chemically treated zone) at a clients home. The hose is a strong but flexible pipe that has evenly spaced holes throughout at approximately 200 mm intervals. This allows Thompson's Disinfecting and Exterminating Services to replenish the termite barrier in a much more efficient and less disruptive way. Each hose has a fill point and a stop end. The hose is run to a maximum length of 10 meters.  Thompson's Disinfecting and Exterminating Services trench around the perimeter of the home and chemically treat the footings of the slab and backfill the soil up to a point of approximately 50-100 millimeters below the finishing level. Thompson's Disinfecting and Exterminating Services then install the Reticulation hose and put in the remaining soil. Thompson's Disinfecting and Exterminating Services generally recommend retreating chemical barriers on a 5 yearly basis. When Thompson's Disinfecting and Exterminating Services do retreatments, we come back and connect our high powered chemical pump to the reticulation system and treat at a high pressure. The chemical is then disbursed evenly through the soil via the holes in the reticulation hose. This means Thompson's Disinfecting and Exterminating Services does not have to re-disturb any landscaping, gardens, grass, pavers,  etc. This also is less labor intensive, which in turns saves money in costs.

The reticulation system does cost a little more to install however, it certainly saves that money and more at future treatments.
